Karina Echavarri


Karina Echavarri has been an educator with the El Paso Independent School District for more than 10 years, currently teaching History and Mexican American Studies at Franklin High School. A proud University of Texas at El Paso graduate with a degree in Social Studies Composite and Education, she is passionate about empowering students through culturally relevant teaching. Karina hosts Cafecito y MAS, a monthly community gathering focused on topics related to Mexican American Studies. She also serves on the board of Project Regeneración, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Duranguito, one of El Paso’s oldest neighborhoods. Her work bridges the classroom and the community, inspiring students and neighbors alike to value their history, roots, and cultural heritage.

Karina Echavarri will give a lecture, Latino G.I.s and the Fight for Equality: The Mexican American WWII Experience, at 1 pm Saturday, July 19 at the El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center.
