Diego Muñoz Holguin


Diego Muñoz Holguin is an award-winning writer/director from El Paso, TX. His films have been accepted into film festivals across the United States and Canada. Most notably, A River Runs On Cliff Street (2022) made its U.S. premiere at Houston Latino Film Festival’s Cine De Muertos 2023 and its East Coast premiere at the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival in 2024. In the summer of 2023, in association with Rampart Records. Diego wrote and directed a music video for the song I Did the Wrong Thing by the Romancers (1969). The video has been recognized by creative agencies like Create.Repeat., the El Paso Community Foundation’s Plaza Classic Film Festival, and the Simi Valley Music Video Festival, where he was awarded Best Director.

His most recent project Black Magic is a short-form biopic based on the life of 1960s bluesman Magic Sam. It will premiere at this year’s Plaza Classic Film Festival. Diego has been recognized as an immensely introspective writer, keeping his characters, and the story a voice of its own. His moving image is described as raw, and a naturalistic approach to directing, letting the actors breathe in their spaces. Along with film, Diego is an active theater arts director and performer.
