The sixth annual festival Aug. 1-11 brought back singer-dancer-actress Rita Moreno to the Plaza Theatre, which she helped save years before with a benefit concert. Rita appeared with West Side Story and The Four Seasons, and read from and signed copies of her autobiography, Rita Moreno. Two child stars from different generations, Margaret O’Brien and Angela Cartwright, also appeared, as did the daughters of actor Burt Lancaster. The festival also paid tribute to influential critic Roger Ebert, who died that year.
